Healthy Heart month starts on Wednesday, February 1st so it is time to get active! Dostyk American International School in Kazakhstan is challenging you to join our 28 Miles in 28 Days Run / Walk Challenge. This is the sixth year of our challenge and as with subsequent years we would like to increase the number of participants and of course surpass our total miles. In 2016 we were able to edge past our 2015 total of 8544 miles by 44 miles.
We can only exceed 8588 miles if you encourage friends, family, and colleagues from home and around the world to participate along with you. So send the challenge out by email, post it on Facebook, and share it on Twitter: #28milesin28dayschallenge to spread the word!
At DAIS 28 miles isn’t the limit it is just the beginning! We’re encouraging everyone to run / walk as many miles as they can to set a new distance record. DAIS students who run or walk 28 miles will receive a blue and gold 28 Miles in 28 Days Challenge wristband. For each additional 28 miles a student walks they will receive an additional wristband. If a student doubles the running challenge they will receive a DAIS Eagles toque.
Students from pre-k to grade 4 will use a pedometer to track their miles in our PE class. Grade 5-8 students will use their Garmin watches to track both steps and miles. If you have your own Garmin watch and want to join our middle school group please email Mr. G at firstname.lastname@example.org. All other participants can hop on a treadmill, hit the trails, or walk the malls to tackle the 28 in 28 challenge.
